1. Committees
In the next few months, we will be seeking to add up to three positions for our Board of Directors. Please watch for details.
2. Events
Our centre have been awarded a casino event by Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) for June 21st and 22nd, 2025. Hosting a casino event will generate thousands of dollars to support the work we do, but we need your help. If you are interested in volunteering for this important opportunity, please contact us at advancement@csacleth.ca or call 403-694-1094. We will require a volunteer application form, a short interview, screening (different depending on event), and orientation (different depending on event)
3. Group Activities
We are not currently seeking volunteers in this area. Sometimes we require volunteers to assist with events or special projects such as office painting, stuffing envelopes, delivering posters, or toy and self care drives.
4. Specialized Services
We are not currently seeking volunteers in this area. Sometimes we require Peer Support Group Co-Facilitators to work alongside staff in the delivery of Peer Support Groups to people who have experienced sexualized violence. In order to volunteer for this position, we will require: A Volunteer Application Form, an interview, references, an orientation, a Current Criminal History Check Inclusive of the Vulnerable Sector and a Current Child Protection Background Check.
5. Practicum Placements
Calls from institutions or students need to occur minimally one month prior to expected placement. The CSAC may determine that placements cannot be accommodated. Preferences are for those students in their last year of study in their chosen field. Child and Family Advocate
PROGRAM: Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

Position Summary:
Working within the Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CCYAC), a dedicated child abuse response, intervention, and prevention program, and reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Child and Family Advocate is integral to creating a safe and supportive environment, assisting families throughout the investigative, judicial, and therapeutic processes, and coordinating services to ensure seamless, trauma-informed care. The Advocate will work closely with multidisciplinary team (MDT) partners, including law enforcement, child protection, mental health, and medical professionals, to provide a coordinated response that prioritizes the well- being and resilience of the children and families served.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy and Support
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy and support to children, youth, and their families
- throughout their involvement with the CCYAC and justice system
- Accompany children and families to interviews, medical examinations, court
- proceedings, and other appointments as needed
- Explain legal processes, victims’ rights, and available services in age-appropriate and
- accessible language
- Advocate for the best interests of children and youth within multidisciplinary team
- meetings and case reviews
Case Management
- Conduct needs assessments to identify immediate and long-term support requirements
- for children and families
- Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with families and
- other professionals
- Provide referrals to appropriate community resources, including mental health services,
- medical care, and social support programs
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records, documenting all interactions and
- interventions
Emotional Support and Crisis Intervention
- Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to children and families throughout their
- engagement with the CCYAC
- Provide psychoeducation about trauma, coping strategies, and the healing process
- Facilitate support groups for non-offending caregivers and siblings when appropriate
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with multidisciplinary team members, including law enforcement, child
- protection services, medical professionals, and mental health providers
- Participate in case review meetings and contribute to coordinated service delivery
- Liaise with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure
- comprehensive support for children and families
Education and Outreach
- Conduct presentations and training sessions for community partners on child abuse
- prevention, trauma-informed care, and the Child and Youth Advocacy (CYAC) model
- Develop educational materials for children, families, and professionals on child rights,
- the justice system, and available support services
- Participate in community awareness events and initiatives related to child protection
- and advocacy

Client Care Specialist

Position Summary
The Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CCYAC) provides a child-centred, trauma- informed, and collaborative response for children and youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, or violence. By bringing together law enforcement, child protection, mental health, and child and family advocacy, CCYAC ensures a coordinated response that reduces re- traumatization and prioritizes healing. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Client Care Specialist (CCS) is integral to this model. As the first point of contact for children, youth, and families arriving at the Centre, the CCS sets the tone for a safe, supportive, and respectful experience. This role combines client engagement with administrative and operational responsibilities that ensure the Centre runs smoothly and families feel cared for from the moment they walk through our doors.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement and Support
- Provide a warm, trauma-informed welcome to children, youth, families, members of the
- multi-disciplinary team and visitors entering the Centre.
- Create and maintain a safe, calm, and child-friendly environment.
- Answer phones and emails, provide accurate information about CCYAC services, and
- direct inquiries appropriately.
- Uphold strict client confidentiality and contribute to a culture of safety and respect.
Coordination and Administration
- Coordinate and schedule forensic interviews, therapy appointments in collaboration
- with Child & Family Advocates, therapists and partner agencies.
- Manage billing information and prepare invoicing support.
- Assist with reports, resource development, data entry, and record-keeping as assigned.
Centre Operations
- Oversee reception and the client parking assistance service.
- Monitor office supplies, equipment, and facility needs; coordinate maintenance and
- repairs as required.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Centre to ensure it remains welcoming and
- professional for clients, staff, and partners.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Specialized Sexual Assault Justice Navigator is a crucial front-line position at our sexual assault centre, responsible for providing comprehensive legal support to survivors of sexual violence and conducting community education initiatives. This role combines victim advocacy, legal guidance, and public education to empower survivors and promote awareness of sexual violence issues.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support and Advocacy
- Provide trauma-informed information, support, and advocacy to survivors of sexual
- violence throughout their engagement with the legal system
- Assist survivors in exploring and understanding their legal options, including protective
- orders, criminal justice processes, and civil litigation
- Accompany and support survivors to police interviews, orientation to court proceedings,
- and other legal appointments as needed
- Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and other legal professionals to ensure
- survivors’ rights and interests are protected
Case Management
- Conduct thorough needs assessments with clients to identify risks, strengths, and goals
- Develop individualized case plans in collaboration with clients based on their needs and
